Yamazumi ChartWork Balance Chart

A stacked-bar chart showing each operator or station's workload against takt time to guide line balancing.

A yamazumi chart ("to stack up" in Japanese) is a stacked-bar visualization where each bar is a station or operator and each segment a work element, compared against a takt time line. Overloaded and underloaded stations are obvious at a glance.

It is the primary working tool for line balancing: planners drag work elements between bars to even out the load and recover hidden capacity without adding people.

Put Yamazumi Chart into practice

SymplProcess turns these concepts into working models, calculators, and templates your whole team can use — no spreadsheets required.
