ADKARAwareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability, Reinforcement

A change-management model that focuses on the individual stages a person moves through during organizational change.

ADKAR is a goal-oriented change-management model that maps the five milestones an individual must reach for change to stick: Awareness of the need to change, Desire to participate, Knowledge of how to change, Ability to implement new skills, and Reinforcement to sustain it.

Because organizational change is just many individual changes, ADKAR is useful for diagnosing exactly where a stalled initiative is stuck — and it pairs naturally with lean transformations that depend on shop-floor buy-in.

Put ADKAR into practice

SymplProcess turns these concepts into working models, calculators, and templates your whole team can use — no spreadsheets required.
