Maintenance

Availability

The percentage of planned production time that equipment is actually running — one of the three OEE factors.

Availability measures how much of the planned production time a machine is actually running, after subtracting downtime losses such as breakdowns, changeovers, and material shortages. It is calculated as Run Time ÷ Planned Production Time.

It is the first of the three factors in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (Availability × Performance × Quality). Improving availability is the focus of TPM and SMED.

Put Availability into practice

SymplProcess turns these concepts into working models, calculators, and templates your whole team can use — no spreadsheets required.
