Bill of MaterialsBOM

A hierarchical list of all components, sub-assemblies, and raw materials needed to build a product.

A bill of materials (BOM) is the structured "recipe" for a product: every part, sub-assembly, quantity, and relationship needed to manufacture it. It is the backbone of MRP and ERP planning.

BOM accuracy directly drives planning accuracy — errors cascade into wrong purchase orders, shortages, and excess inventory. BOMs come in several views (engineering, manufacturing, and as-built) that must stay synchronized.

Put Bill of Materials into practice

SymplProcess turns these concepts into working models, calculators, and templates your whole team can use — no spreadsheets required.
