MRPMaterial Requirements Planning

A planning logic that explodes a production schedule through the BOM to calculate what to order or make, and when.

Material Requirements Planning (MRP) takes the master production schedule, explodes it through the bill of materials, nets against on-hand inventory and lead times, and produces time-phased purchase and work orders. It is a push, forecast-driven planning engine.

MRP's accuracy depends entirely on data integrity — BOMs, inventory records, and lead times. It is the planning core inside most ERP systems and is often paired with pull execution on the floor.

Put MRP into practice

SymplProcess turns these concepts into working models, calculators, and templates your whole team can use — no spreadsheets required.
