Flow

Push System

Production driven by forecasts and schedules, pushing work downstream regardless of actual demand.

A push system produces according to a forecast or schedule and pushes the output to the next step whether or not it is ready for it. MRP is the classic push planning engine.

Push is necessary when lead times exceed the time customers will wait, but its forecast errors create excess inventory, the bullwhip effect, and obsolescence. Most modern operations blend push planning with pull execution.

Put Push System into practice

SymplProcess turns these concepts into working models, calculators, and templates your whole team can use — no spreadsheets required.
